Local mountain bike racer and content creator Toby Gibbons joined Barret and Tash in the UCFM studio on this week’s episode of The Real Radio Show to talk resilience, racing, and rediscovering the joy of riding after injury.
Coming off a brutal 394 days sidelined by repeated shoulder dislocations and surgery, Toby reflected on a comeback season that “hasn’t quite gone to plan” but has reignited his love for the sport.
For Toby, his priority now is regaining top form, staying healthy, and continuing to race downhill and enduro at a competitive level.
He’s aiming to head overseas again, with a return to international competition on the cards for 2027, while riding for Norco and producing more media content around his racing.
Alongside his own goals, Toby is also investing time in mentoring younger Canberra riders preparing for their first European seasons, and while coaching isn’t his main plan right now, it’s something he’s open to down the track.
Above all, he’s keeping it simple: ride smart, stay in one piece, and keep enjoying being back on the bike.
