Local Canberra filmmaker and UC student Tilly Bell dropped into the UCFM studio to chat with the team from The Wrap Up about her latest short film, Dive. The film, made with fellow Canberra filmmaker and UC alum James Hiscutt, follows their first project Chain and explores themes of friendship, personal growth, and the struggle of leaving your hometown to chase your dreams.

Tilly talks about the challenges of self-funding a film and how important the local creative community is in bringing Dive to life. She shares her love for Australian storytelling, her inspiration from filmmakers like Macario De Souza, and her dream of one day working on sports documentaries. On top of her filmmaking career, Tilly also reveals she’s a professional Muay Thai fighter, proving she’s just as comfortable in the ring as she is behind the camera. Right now, she’s focused on getting Dive into film festivals to showcase the incredible talent of Canberra creatives and the stories they have to tell.
