Two University of Canberra students are proving that where you come from doesn’t limit where you can go.

In a recent Campus Spotlight on The Wrap, Snow Scholars Isabella and Layla shared how the Snow Scholarship Programme is opening doors for students from regional NSW and the ACT and offering far more than financial support.

From instant friendships (“you’ve got 16 new friends”) to wraparound academic and personal guidance, the pair say the program has “really changed [their] uni experience,” helping them transition into higher education with confidence.

The Snow Scholarship is co-founded by the Snow Foundation and University of Canberra which helps students from Canberra and regional or rural NSW overcome barriers to starting an undergraduate degree.

Both studying Primary Education, Isabella and Layla say they’re driven to give back to regional communities and champion equity in schools, showing how lived experience can shape future impact. As Layla puts it, “just give it your best shot… you have nothing to lose.”
