This week’s episode of Local Lunch, James is joined by Tia as they gear up for the University of Canberra’s annual music festival, Stonefest. James and Tia chat about the event’s highly anticipated return to the UC lawns, its two-stage setup, and the excitement building around the diverse lineup of performers.
James landed exclusive interviews with Sonic Reducer, The Buoys, and Great Gable who are set to perform at the festival. Sonic Reducer, formed by high school friends, shared how they’ve grown as a band and gave insights into their creative process. Meanwhile, Hillary from The Boys talked about their debut album Lustre and teased some of the track’s fans can expect during their set. Alex from Great Gable also spoke about their latest album, what went into making it and the bands favourite past time on tour.
In addition to interviews, the episode features tracks from the festival’s performers, including Teenage Dads, May-A, Mansionair, Kitschen Boy, Lucy Sugarman, Jack Knows, and Jet Blyton, giving listeners a taste of what’s to come at Stonefest.
Stonefest, which has been a staple of the University of Canberra for over 20 years, will take place on two stages this year, with performances inside the refectory and outside near the UC Hub.
