Canberra singer songwriter Stella was in the studio this week to chat with James on Local Lunch not only about her new track ‘Casual Sex’, but also her creative journey and what’s on the horizon.
Stella’s latest single explores vulnerability in love and the acceptance that not every connection is meant to last. Built from pieces written at different stages of a relationship, the track weaves early 2000s pop influences with rich, textured instrumentation. She shares that the song’s tension mirrors her personality and storytelling style. With more music on the way and upcoming band shows in the pipeline, Stella promises that this chapter is just the midpoint. “There’s a story that isn’t finished yet,” she says.
