Venezuela is on the path to recovery following two earthquakes which struck the country in June.

Two months on, officials have confirmed six thousand deaths, 16 thousand injuries and 24 thousand displacements.

Direct physical damage from the earthquakes has been estimated at 19.6 billion dollars by the World Bank

A third magnitude 7 earthquake also hit neighboring Colombia last week, their largest in recent years.

UC’s Latin American Student Association has supported the recovery from afar. This included a community fundraiser event on July 25th.

Jorge and Maca from UC LASA dropped into the studio to chat about how this has affected them and the latin student community and what they’re doing to help.
