Canberra-based artist Pali, the creative force behind Bird Capital, joins James in the studio for Local Lunch to share insights into his musical journey and the release of his debut album. A UC graduate and long-time musician, Pali describes his evolution from recording on basic gear in high school bands to crafting a concept album over three years with collaborator Tom Benter. The album blends acoustic textures with experimental electronic elements, unified by a unique sound palette developed through years of exploration.

Despite the album’s intricate production, Pali plans to bring Bird Capital to the live stage with an entirely reimagined set. “Some songs are really hard to play live,” he admits, “but that challenge makes it fun.” His current listening rotation includes artists like Sufjan Stevens, Marvin Gaye, and Kendrick Lamar—reflecting the wide range of influences that shape his sound. Birdcapital’s new album drops on July 23, 2025, promising a rich, genre-blending experience for listeners.
