Landspeed Records, a beloved staple of Canberra’s music scene since 1994. Co-owned by Blake and his brother, the store has weathered decades of industry change—from fax machines and CD booms to the resurgence of vinyl and even a surprising comeback of CDs among younger music fans. With a catalog sourced globally and a strong local following spanning generations, Landspeed has carved out a unique place in Australia’s music retail landscape.

Blake credits the store’s longevity to passion, adaptability, and community support. He sees the nomination as a chance to spotlight Canberra’s growing cultural pride and hopes it encourages more local businesses. “It’d be cool if Canberra got put on the map,” he said, urging music lovers to vote via vote.themusic.com.au before the poll closes. With a $200 voucher up for grabs for one lucky voter, the campaign is more than just recognition—it’s a celebration of 30 years of indie music culture in the capital.
