Actor and LGBTQIA+ advocate Liv Hewson spoke about their roots in Canberra and the impact of youth theatre on their career with The Real Radio Show hosts Alison and AJ in a recent interview.

Liv is donating $100,000 over five years to Canberra Youth Theatre, the place where they first learned to act. “The skill set that I have, I can really almost completely attribute to my experience with youth arts programming,” they shared.

Liv also reflected on their role in Yellowjackets, the importance of queer representation in media, and their ongoing commitment to advocacy. “It’s an ongoing, urgent, personal and professional priority,” they said of portraying queer characters.

Despite their global success, Liv’s heart remains in Canberra. “Big picture, I want to work back here more often… and long term, I would love to be back in Australia.”

Having starred in two shows with themes of cannibalism, AJ and Alison couldn’t resist asking Liv which one of their co-starts they think would be most delicious. Who’s on the menu? Watch the full interview below to find out!
