Australian rapper and ARIA Award-winner Illy launches his Good Life tour this Friday, starting at UC Hub. The tour celebrates his latest album, The Good Life, which tops the ARIA charts and reflects years of work that began during the pandemic. Illy says the creative process is a mix of quick inspiration and slow refinement, with some tracks written in a day and others taking months. His favourite song from the album? “Brave Heart,” written for his father, and the genre-defying title track, which pushes him outside his musical comfort zone.
Known for his electrifying live shows, Illy promises a “big, high-energy party” on stage. He credits his success to relentless touring and a strong work ethic—one he first developed while studying law before diving full-time into music. As he continues performing across Australia, he’s already working on new material, hoping to shape his next album by the end of the tour. For Illy, the best part of the journey is simple: “Seeing people sing your lyrics back—it’s the best high there is.”
