Canberra-based artist Elizabeth Ahern, aka Tin Lizzie, is turning recycled tins into stunning handmade jewellery, giving forgotten objects a second life. From vintage floral tins to donated tea containers, Liz transforms them into earrings, brooches, and pendants using a technique called cold connection. With a background in law and now teaching, her creative journey began with silversmithing and evolved into a passion project that’s gaining traction in local galleries and online. Her advice to new creatives? Start small, embrace the process, and connect with the handmade community. Find her work on Instagram at Tin Lizzie Designs or in-store at Strathnairn Gallery and POP Canberra in Braddon.
