Canberra‑formed indie rock band Teen Jesus and the Gene Teasers have grown from school friends with borrowed instruments into a mainstay of festival lineups and international tours. Bassist Jaida joined Hannah, Tash, and Barret in the studio for The Real Radio Show to reflect on the band’s beginnings, their whirlwind run through Laneway Festival, and the nerves‑to‑euphoria rush of playing to thousands. Despite the scale of their success, the band’s story remains grounded in friendship, curiosity, and a willingness to jump in headfirst, even before they knew how to play.

That journey comes full circle on their new album, Glory, written during an immersive recording period and marking 10 years as a band. “It’s been 10 years of being a band. We’ve achieved so much in our time… this album, we kind of want it to be like a victory lap,” Jaida says. With Glory out now and a May tour approaching, Teen Jesus and the Gene Teasers are celebrating how far they’ve come while charging confidently into what’s next.
