On The Wrap Up this week, hosts Ben and AJ were joined by Remy Morris, a fellow UC student and contributor to the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Digital Repository, to talk about the power of public health and the impact of one of Australia’s longest‑running Indigenous health initiatives.

Funded by the Australian Government and operating since 2010, the TIS program works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to reduce smoking rates through culturally informed, community‑led approaches.

Remy shared how an internship with the National Best Practice Unit turned into the huge task of transforming more than 16 years of program history into a living digital archive, designed not just to preserve the past, but to continually evolve, share best practice and inspire future health initiatives.

From receiving a surprise scholarship to setting an ambitious vision for a nicotine‑free generation, Remy spoke candidly about why the TIS program matters, how it supports real change on the ground, and why there’s still more work to do despite national smoking targets being met.
